Caprara’s Thunder Alley Speed Park Honors Champions and Top Finishers at Annual Awards Banquet By Craig Revelle - Finish Line Web Design - November 1, 2011
“The banquet was a great success”, says
track General Manager Greg Smith. “We
honored our champions and top finishers, and it was just a good night to
get everyone together one final time this season and celebrate a great
season”. Jeff Rowe was the 2011 Open Wheel Modified track
champion with two feature wins and 14 top five finishes in 19 events
this season. Billy Matteson
was the track champion in the Thunder Car division, leading the way with
nine feature wins. Dustin
VanTasel led the way in the Legends class, also getting to victory lane
nine times this year. Amanda
De Foe was the Jr. Thunder Care champion with seven wins, while Devin
Thorton topped the Jr. Thunder Stock class with 4 feature wins.
Ike Stone dominated the Super Stock division with nine feature
wins as well. Dan Swem
didn’t make it to victory lane in 2011, but he was consistent enough
to capture the Thunder Stock championship.
Jenn Burnash won eight times in 2011 on her way to the Women’s
Truck division championship. Scott
Schafer won all but one of 14 events this season as he cruised to the
championship in the Sports Compaq championship.
Randy Mooney was the Men’s Truck champion, posting five feature
wins along the way. “Congratulations goes out to all of our
champions this season”, adds Smith.
“We want to thank everyone that raced at Thunder Alley this
season, and the track officials, and of course the race fans that came
out each week”. The 2012 season will be here before we know it.

up, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the track in the New Year. ____________________________________________________________ Multiple Victors and 2011 Track Champions Crowned at Thunder Alley Speed Park By Megan Rowe - September 18, 2011 Caprara’s Thunder Alley Speed Park kicked off their final night of racing action for the 2011 season on Saturday, September 17, 2011. Headlining the night was two 20 lap open wheel events. Joining them were the limited supers, thunder cars, thunder stocks, men’s trucks, women’s trucks, sports compacts, superstocks, legends, and jr. thunder car and stocks. There was also a 20 lap endure which would close out the night. The limited super division kicked off our nights racing action with their 20 lap feature event. Cameron Rowe and Mike Bond led the field to the green with Jack Patrick taking the lead of lap one over Camerson Rowe and Dave Latulip. The yellow flag flew on lap two for a multi car accident on the front stretch. When racing resumed, Mike Bond was leading the way over Cameron Rowe and Rob Pullen. The yellow waved again on lap nine when David Gruel and Jason Simmons spun in turn number three and four. Upon the wave of the green flag, Mike Bond continued to lead while Dave Latulip entered the second position and Jack Patrick filled out the top three. Mike Bond collected the win over Dave Latulip and Jack Patrick. Devin Thorton and Dylan Kampnich led the Jr. Thunder Car/Stock feature to the green. Dylan Kampnich took the lead of lap number one over Devin Thorton, Dalton Lampson, Scott McCarthy and Jared Weeman. At the halfway mark, Dylan Kampnich was continuing to lead the way over Devin Thorton and Dalton Lampson. Dylan Kampnich took the win over Scott McCarthy and Devin Thorton in the Jr. Thunder Stock and Amanda DeFoe took the Thunder Car win. Zach Aubertine and Willy Decker led the field to the green in the first 25 lap open wheel event. Willy Decker led lap number one over Zach Aubertine, Jordan McCreadie, Tony Steiner and Bill Gill. Dave Gruel came to a stop as the field was going into turn number one to bring out the first yellow flag on lap two. On the restart, Zach Aubertine found the opportunity to move around Willy Decker to take the lead over Tony Steiner, Jordan McCreadie and Bill Gill. The caution flag came out when Jason Sawyer and Mike Mandigo came together in turn number four. Zach Aubertine held the control of the field over Willy Decker, Tony Steiner, Jordan McCreadie and Bill Gill. When the field reached halfway, Zach Aubertine continued to lead the way over Willy Decker, Tony Stiner, Jordan McCreadie and Bill Gill. Zach Aubertine went on to collect the win in the first 25 lap segement over Willy Decker, Bill Gill, Tony Steiner and Mark Webb. Ricky Swem and Kelly Swem led the Thunder Stock division to the green flag with Ricky Swem leading lap number one over Kelly Swem, Scott Lampson, Amanda Dibble and Dan Papin. At the halfway mark, Frank Nortz was leading the way over Justin Pope, Luke Kampnich, Randy Bowman and Dan Swem. Chris Zieren led lap number one over Brice Norton, Nate Plantz, Steve Yenall and Verne LaFave. On lap six there was a yellow when Steve Yenall, Taylor Doxtater, and Brice Norton spun in turn number two. On the restart, Nate Plantz held the lead over Chris Zieren, Verne LaFave, Dalton Rombough and Brice Norton. Nate Plantz collected the victory over Chris Zieren and Verne LaFave. Tim Worden and Nicholas Trapp led the thunder car division to the green with Joel Hall leading lap number one over Tim Woreden, Kathy DeFoe, Dan Way and Billy Matteson. After a brief yellow flag, racing resumed with Joel Hall taking the lead over Tim Worden, Dan Swem, Dan Way and Billy Matteson. By the halfway mark, Jeff Trapp led the event over Kathy DeFoe, Jason More, Joel Hall and Dan Swem. When the two laps to go sign was shown to the field, Luke Roes had taken the lead away from Brian Burnash with Travis Edwards in third. The yellow waved on lap 14 when Zach Strough stopped in turn number one. Luke Roes took the win over Randy Mooney, Brian Burnash, Ray Richer and Trevor Halladay. The Super Stocks was led to the green by Jason Dinzler and Bob Weiss. Jason Dinzler led lap number one over Bob Weiss, Chris Typhair, Ray Bancroft and Bob Weiss. The yellow flew on lap four when Chris Typhair spun in the middle of turn one and two and came to a stop. On lap five, Jason Dinzler was leading the way over Jeff Bannister, Ike Stone, Rick Zeigler and Edward Hayden. Ike Stone took the lead with five laps left to go as he went on to collect the victory over Rick Zeigler and Chris Typhair. John Williams and Craig McGhee led the Sport Compacts to the green in their 15 lap event. Craig McGhee took the lead of lap one over Scott Schafer, Tim Dunn, Joel Hall and Patrick McGhee. Scott Schafer took the lead by lap number two over Craig McGhee, Tim Dunn, Artie Haire and Joel Hall. Scott Schafer and Tim Dunn had a sizable lead on the field as the five laps to go sign was shown to the field. Scott Schafer took the win over Tim Dunn, Artie Haire, Craig McGhee, and Patrick McGhee. In the second, 25 lap open wheel event, Andy Powell and Rob Pullen led the field to the green. Andy Powell led lap number one over Zach Aubertine, Rob Pullen, Tony Steiner and Jeff Rowe. At the halfway mark, Zach Aubertine was leading the way over Andy Powell, Tony Steiner, Rob Pullen and Willy Decker. The yellow flag flew on lap 24 when Steven Hutchinson Jr. spun in turn number one and two. end this Saturday, September 17th at Caprara’s Thunder
Alley Speed Park, and with the help of several local sponsors, they will
host their biggest event of the season with twin 25 lap features for the
Open Wheel division with the overall winner taking home $2000. The winner of the first 25-lap segment
will receive $500, and at the conclusion of the event, an undetermined
amount of cars will be inverted to start the second 25 lap feature.
More details on race format, and the rest of the payout will be
announced later in the week. “With the help of several area
sponsors, we were able to put this deal together”, says Thunder Alley
Speed Park General Manager Greg Smith.
“Our final night to the 2011 season should be very exciting
with the high paying event”. Also on the schedule for the final
night of the season at Thunder Alley will be a full show of Thunder
Cars, Super Stocks, Jr. Thunder Cars, Jr. Thunder Stocks, Thunder
Stocks, Mens and Women’s truck division, Sports Compaq, and Legends,
plus the Small Block Supers with a non points race, as well as a popular
Enduro race. It will also be Nostalgia night at the
track, with several local legends on hand to sign autographs and have a
meet and greet with the fans before the races get underway.
This will take place from 4:30pm to 6:00pm.
Racing action will follow. “There are a lot of veterans of this
great sports that have raced here at Thunder Alley at one time or
another”, says Smith. “It
will be great to have some of them back here this weekend to meet with
the fans”. The lucrative end of the season event
is presented by several local sponsors that include Brite Orange Realty,
Junction Boyz Auto Body, VanTassel Towing, 4 Corners Auto Repair, and
VanTassel’s/Gilco Snow and Ice. There will be a draw at the pit gate to
determine heat race starting positions.
The first 25 laps will be lined up based on heat race results,
and as mentioned, part of the field will be inverted for the second 25

Headlining the nights racing event was the Super Stocks and Open Wheel divisions. Joining them were the Men’s Trucks, Women’s Trucks, Legends, Thunder Cars, Thunder Stocks, Sport Compacts and Jr. Thunder Car and Stocks. The track also hosted one on one spectator races. Brian Burnash and Toby Hilts led the Men’s Truck division to the green flag with Brian Burnash taking the lead of lap number one over Travis Edwards, John Sullivan, Bob Schroy and Trevor Halladay. The yellow flag waved on lap number two when Brian Burnash was spun from behind in turns three and four. On the restart, Travis Edwards took the lead on the field over Trevor Halladay, Bob Schroy, John Sullivan and Toby Hilts. At the halfway mark, John Sullivan was leading the way over Bob Schroy, Ben Fuller, Brian Hilts, and Travis Edwards. The yellow waved on lap 16 when Ben Van Tassel spun on his own in the middle of the speedway. When racing continued John Sullivan led the way over Bob Schroy and Ben Fuller. John Sullivan went on to collect the win over Bob Schroy, Ben Fuller, Travis Edwards and Randy Mooney. Joining them were the Sport Compacts, Men’s Trucks, Women’s Trucks, Thunder Car’s, Thunder Stocks, Legends, and Jr. Thunder Car/Stocks. Craig McGhee and Dan Way led the Sport Compacts to the green for their 15 lap feature event with Craig McGhee leading lap number one over Tim Dunn, Dan Way, Dan Swem and Scott Schafer. The yellow flag flew on lap number one when Joel Hall spun in turn number three and four to bring out the yellow flag. When racing returned to green flag conditions, Tim Dunn took the command of the field over Dan Swem, Scott Schafer, Dan Way and Mike Sullivan. At the halfway mark, Scott Schafer held the lead of the field while Tim Dunn was on his bumper trying to take the lead away from Schafer. Scott Schafer collected the win over Tim Dunn and Mike Sullivan. Family Autograph Night was the highlight of the evening as the fans were able to meet and greet their favorite driver in a brief intermission during the night. In racing action were the Super Stocks, Open Wheels, Men’s Trucks, Women’s Trucks, Sport Compacts, Thunder Stock, Thunder Cars, Legends and Jr. Thunder Car and Thunder Stocks. The Jr. Thunder Car/Stock division kicked off the nights racing action with Devin Thorton and Jared Weeman leading the field to the green. As the group crossed the start finish line at the end of lap number one it was Jason More leading the way over Jared Weeman, Devin Thorton, Dan Papin and Scott McCarthy. At the halfway mark, Devin Thorton was leading the field as he maneuvered through lap traffic and was able to keep his competitors at bay. Devin Thorton went on to collect the win over Scott McCarthy and Dan Papin. Taylor Doxtater and Verne LaFave led the Legends division to the green with Taylor Doxtater leading the field at lap number one over Dustin Van Tassel, Nate Plantz and Verne LaFave. Verne LaFave exited the speedway on lap nine leaving three cars to battle for the top position that was caution free. The yellow flag flew again on lap number nine when Trevor Halladay, Matt Larrivee and Ben Van Tassel spun in turn number three and four. When racing resumed, John Sullivan continued to lead the charge with Randy Mooney quickly closing in for the lead. When the checkered flag waved, John Sullivan was able to take the win over Randy Mooney and Bob Schroy. Billy Matteson and Dan Way led the thunder car feature to the green with Billy Matteson taking the lead of the field over Dan Way, Joel Hall, Kathy DeFoe and Jeff Trapp. At the halfway mark, Billy Matteson continued to lead the way as he sliced through lap traffic over Dan Way, Joel Hall, Homer Dobransky and Kathy DeFoe. As the checkered flag waved, Billy Matteson collected the win over Dan Way and Homer Dobransky. Mike Mandigo and Zach Aubertine led the open wheels to the green with Mike Mandigo taking the lead over Zach Aubertine, Ivan Steen, Andy Powell and Brian Holder. The yellow waved on lap three when Ivan Steen spun in turn number two. When racing resumed, Zach Aubertine took the lead from Mike Mandigo while Andy Powell, Brian Holder and Jeff Rowe filled out the top five. Zach Aubertine continued to lead the way at the halfway mark while Mandigo and Powell were in pursuit. As the checkered flag waved, Mike Mandigo took the lead at the line for the win over Zach Aubertine and Andy Powell. Ellen Sullivan and Jenn Burnash led the women’s truck to the green with Jenn Burnash taking the lead over Ellen Sullivan, Brittany Schroy, Jeannie Nicholas and Andrea Kerr. At the halfway mark, Jenn Burnash continued to lead the way over Brittany Schroy, Ellen Sullivan and Jeannie Nicholas. Ike Stone and Jason Dinzler led the way to the green in the Super Stock division with Ike Stone taking the lead of the field over Jason Dinzler, Rick Zeigler, Ray Bancroft and John Van Tassel. At the halfway mark, Ike Stone set the pace on the field over Rick Zeigler, Ray Bancroft, Dennis Petrus and John Van Tassel. kicked off a full night of racing action on Saturday, June 18, 2011. The
night started with features for all divisions as the races were rained
out immediately following the heats on June 11th. Following
those make up features, a full night of racing action was presented in
all classes. The Jr. Thunder Car/Stock
rainout feature from June 11th kicked off the nights racing
action with Dalton Lampson and Devin Thorton leading the way to the
green flag. Devin Thorton took the early control of the race over Devin
Thorton, Scott McCarthy, Jared Weeman and Skylar Way. Devin Thorton took
over the control of the race on lap two with Dalton Lampson in second
followed by Scott McCarthy, Jared Weeman and Skylar Way. As the laps
closed, Skylar Way kept control of the field and went on to collect the
win over Devin Thorton and Scott McCarthy. Ellen Sullivan and Lyndsey
Wendell led the Women’s Truck division to the green with Ellen
Sullivan, Lyndsey Wendell, Brittany Schroy and Jenn Burnash rounding out
the top four as the field completed lap number one. By the halfway mark,
Ellen Sullivan was getting pressure from Lyndsey Wendell. Wendell
completed the pass on lap eight for the control of the field. As the
checkered flag waived, Lyndsey Wendell collected the win over Brittany
Schroy and Ellen Sullivan. Jeremy Scott and Bob Schroy
led the Men’s Truck rainout feature to the green flag. Bob Schroy took
the control of lap number one as the yellow flag flew for the number 07
of Gary Wendell. When racing resumed, Randy Mooney took over the lead of
the field over Bob Schroy, Bob Sullivan, Travis Edwards and Jimmy Wood.
At the half way mark, Randy Mooney kept control of the field over Bob
Schroy, John Sullivan, John Sullivan, Travis Edwards and Jimmy Wood.
Randy Mooney went on to collect the win over John Sullivan, Travis
Edwards and Jimmy Wood. Rick Marshall and Ray
Brancroft led the Super Stocks to the green with Ray Bancroft using the
outside of the track to take over the lead followed by JR Mooney, Rick
Marshall, Rick Zeigler and Ike Stone. The yellow flag flew on lap six
when Rick Marshall brought out the yellow flag. When racing resumed, Ray
Bancroft kept control of the field over JR Mooney, Ike Stone, Rick
Zeigler and John Van Tassel. As the checkered waived, Ray Bancroft
collected the win over JR Mooney, Rick Zeigler, Ike Stone and John Van
Tassel. Ricky Swem and Joe Jewett led
the rainout thunder stock feature to the green as Ricky Swem took over
the lead of the field. Joe Jewett, Matt Brown, Dustin Rogers and Nick
Rombough filled out the top five at the end of lap one.
At the halfway mark, Ricky Swem held the control of the field
over Matt Brown, Joe Jewett, Frank Nortz and Dalton Rombough. One lap
later, Joe Jewett took the second position from Matt Brown. Ricky Swem
collected the win over Joe Jewett, Frank Nortz, Dalton Rombough and Matt
Brown. Zach Aubertine and Lance
Willix led the open wheels to the green in their make up 15 lap feature.
Lance Willix took the control of lap one over Mike Mandigo, Jeff Rowe
and Zach Aubertine. On lap number two, Zach Aubertine pulled pit side
leaving Willix, Mandigo and Rowe to battle for the lead. At the halfway
mark, Lance Willix held on the control over Mandigo and Rowe. Despite
heavy pursuit, Lance Willix went on to collect the win over Mike Mandigo
and Jeff Rowe. Homer Dobransky and Mike
Sullivan led the sports compact rainout feature to the green with Homer
Dobransky taking the lead on the field over Billy Matteson, Rudy
Widrick, Mike Sullivan and Jeff Trapp. By
lap six, Rudy Widrick took over the second position over Scott
Schafer, Billy Matteson and Jeff Trapp. By the halfway mark, Homer
Dobransky continued to lead the way with Rudy Widrick in hot pursuit but
the lead would be short lived as Rudy Widrick took over the control of
the field. On the last lap, Scott Schafer took over the lead of the
field and went on to collect the win over Rudy Widrick, Billy Matteson,
Craig McGhee and Joel Hall. Homer Dobransky and Jeremy
Lueck led the Thunder Car division to the green flag with Jeff Trapp
leading lap number one over Homer Dobransky and Kathy DeFoe. On lap
three, Jeff Trapp brought out the yellow flag as Homer Dobrasnky, Kathy
DeFoe, Tom Hunter, Joel Hall and Dan Way filled out the top five.
At the half way mark, Tom Hunter kept control of the field over
Kathy Defoe, Dan Way, Joel Hall and Homer Dobransky.
As the checkered flag waved, Homer Dobransky collected the win
over Kathy DeFoe, Dan Way, Tom Hunter and Joel Hall. The Women’s trucks kicked
off the night’s regular racing action with Jenn Burnash and Brittany
Schroy leading the way to the green flag. Lyndsey Wendell took over the
lead of lap number one followed by Bunash, Schroy, Rombough
and Sullivan. The yellow flew on lap number three for Jenn
Burnash, slowing up the field. The restart allowed Brittany Schroy to
take the lead followed by Nichole Rombough, and Ellen Sulilvan. Brittany
Schroy was able to keep her competitors at bay and take the win over
Nichole Rombough, Ellen Sullivan, Jenn Burnash and Lyndsey Wendell. The Legends led by Verne
LaFave and Taylor took the green in their 15 lap feature with Doxtater
taking the early control. The yellow flew on lap four when Dustin Van
Tassel slowed on the race track. When racing resumed, Taylor Doxtater
kept the control over Verne LaFave, Nate Plantz, and Gordon Hall. Verne
LaFave would not be silent as on the next lap, he took the control of
the field over Doxtater. Doxtater would be kept buys by Gordon Hall and
Dustin Van Tassel all looking for the top spot. As the checkered flag
waved, Verne LaFave took the win over Taylor Doxtater, Gordon Hall,
Dustin Van Tassel and Nate Plantz.
Bill Brock and Homer Dobransky
led the Sport Compact feature to green with Scott Schafer jumping to
lead lap one from his fourth place starting position. Rudy Widrick
quickly followed in line behind Schafer with Bill Brock, Homer Dobransky
and Mike Sullivan filling out the top five. At the halfway mark, Scott
Schafer still continued to lead the way over Rudy Widric, Tim Ingersol,
Mike Sullivan and Billy Mattson. The yellow flag flew on lap 9 when
Craig McGhee slowed up on the field. When racing resumed, Scott Schafer
would hold off heavy pressure from Rudy Widrick to take the win in the
15 lap feature over Rudy Widrick and Mike Sullivan. In the 15 lap open wheel main,
Jeff Rowe and Lance Willix led the field to the green. Lance Willix took
the lead of the field over Jeff Rowe, Mike Mandigo, Verne LaFave and
Greg Gould. At the half way mark, Lance Willix still held the lead while
Mike Mandigo sat in second over Jeff Rowe. Zach Aubertine left the
speedway on lap 10 with mechanical woes. Lance Willix went on to take
his second win of the evening over Mike Mandigo, Jeff Rowe, Verne LaFave
and Greg Gould. The Thunder Cars, led by
Jeremy Lueck and Jeff Trapp was next on the agenda for their 15 lap
feature. Jeff Trapp took the early lead of lap number one over Tom
Hunter, Jeremy Lueck, Joel Hall and Kathy DeFoe. Trapp would hold the
lead on the field until lap seven when Billy Mattison pulled to the
front of the field from his 7th place starting position.
Mattison kept control, leaving Trapp to pursue him as the race
continued. Lap traffic became an issue by lap 10 of the feature, giving
Trapp, Zak Petrie, Homer Dobransky and Richard Moses Jr. the opportunity
to close in on Mattison. As the field crossed the line, Billy Mattison
collected the win over Jeff Trapp and Zak Petrie. Jason Dinzler and Rick Zeigler
led the Super Stock division to the green with Rick Zeigler leading the
charge as the field cross for lap number one over Jason Dinzler, Ray
Bancroft, Ike Stone and Dennis Petrus. On lap three, Matt Larrivee went
pitside with mechanical problems while Rick Zeigler continued to lead
the way getting pressure from Jason Dinzler and Ray Bancroft. At the
half way mark, Rick Zeigler had continued to be the leader as the rest
of the field battled for positions. Rick Zeigler went on to collect the
win while Ray Bancroft, Dennis Petrus, JR Mooney and Ike Stone filled
out the top five. In the 15 lap men’s truck
race, John Sullivan and Travis Edwards led the field to green with
Sullivan taking the lead f lap one over Travis Edwards, Randy Mooney,
Bob Schroy and Jimmy Wood. The yellow flew on lap one when Trevor
Halladay and Gary Wendell spun on the track. When racing resumed, John
Sullivan continued to lead the way as Randy Mooney moved into the second
position over Trevor Halladay. Lap traffic came in to play as the field
hit the halfway mark. As the last four laps came into view, Randy Mooney
positioned his truck on the speedway to edge around John Sullivan and
took the lead. Randy Mooney went on to collect the win over John
Sullivan and Travis Edwards. In the 15 lap thunder stock
division, Kory Parro and Amanda Dibble led the field to the green with
Parro begin credited for leading lap number one. Ricky Swem, who started
in the 12th position quickly climbed to the front of the
field and by lap number three had entered the top five. Swem wasted
little time moving around Parro and taking the lead of the field. At the
half way mark, Ricky Swem continued to dominate while Kenneth Kampnich,
Kory Parro, Frank Nortz and Pat Brown were attempting to chase Swem

Headlining the evening were the Super Stocks and Open Wheels. Joining them were the Thunder Stocks, Thunder Cars, Men’s and Women’s Trucks, Sport Compacts, Legends and Jr. Thunder Cars/Stocks. John Van Tassel and Rick Marshall led the field to the green in the Super Stock divisions 15 lap A-Main. Rick Marshall took the lead of lap number one over Ike Stone, Ray Bancroft, Rick Zeigler and John Van Tassel. At the half way mark, Ike Stone had taken control of the field over Ray Bancroft and Rick Zeigler. As the checkered dropped, Ike Stone collected the win over Ray Bancroft and Rick Zeigler. In the 15 lap Thunder Stock Feature, Stan Loomis and Kelly Swem led the field to the green as Stan Loomis took control of the field over Justin Pope, Dan Swem, Dalton Rombough and Kenneth Kampnich. The yellow flew on lap four when Justin Pope was spun by Dalton Rombough bringing out the yellow. Dan Swem took control of the field over Ricky Swem, Stan Loomis, and Kenneth Kampnich. At the halfway mark, Dan Swem held the lead over Ricky Swem, Stan Loomis, Frank Nortz and Matt Brown. Ricky Swem battled under Dan Swem for the lead as the two lap sign was shown to the field. As the checkered waived over the field, Ricky Swem won over Dan Swem and Stan Loomis. Lance Willix and Mike Mandigo led the Open Wheel division to green. Lance Willix led from green to checker in the caution free event picking up the win over Mike Mandigo and Jeff Rowe. Tim Worden and Tom Hunter led the Thunder Car division to the green flag with Tom Hunter taking the lead of the field over Zak Petrie, Kathy DeFoe, Billy Matteson and Nick Trapp. Tom Hunter and Zak Petrie tangled on a lap three restart giving Kathy DeFoe the lead as Joel Hall was quickly trying to track her down. When the two laps to go sign was shown to the field, Kathy DeFoe, Joel Hall and Billy Mattison ran nose to tail for the first three positions. Billy Mattison slipped under Joel Hall for second and set his sights on Kathy DeFoe and the lead. As the checkered waived, Billy Mattison would collect the win over Kathy Defoe and Joel Hall. Joining the regular divisions were the Limited Supers and an Enduro. Ray Bancroft and Keith Doxtater led the Super Stock feature to the green for their 15 lap feature event. Ray Bancroft took the early control over Ike Stone, Keith Doxtater, Rick Marshall, and Jason Dinzler filling out the top five. Ray Bancroft and Ike Stone held a heavy battle for the lead as Stone took control of the field by lap five. At the half way point, Ike Stone still stood at the head of the field over Ray Bancroft, Keith Doxtater, Jason Dinzler and Rick Marshall. Ike Stone went on to collect the win over Keith Doxtater, Ray Bancroft, Rick Marshall and Todd Rhodes. The Legends division led by Verne LaFave and Nate Plantz was up on the docket with Dustin Van Tassel, Tony Hanbury, Verne LaFave, Chris Zieren and Zach Truesdall leading the way at the completion of lap one. As the caution free event hit the halfway point, Luke Roes continued at the head of the field with Trevor Halladay hot in pursuit in the second position followed by Randy Mooney, Luke Roes and Travis Edwards. On lap 12, Kyle Gill entered the pit area as the racing action continued on the speedway. Luke Roes went on to grab the win over Randy Mooney, Greg Roes, Trevor Halladay and Travis Edwards. On lap eight, the yellow flag flew when Barry Kingsley spun in turn three and four and found himself in a pile of mud on the inside of the speedway. Joel Hall continued to set the pace of the field as Billy Mattison, Tom Hunter, Dan Way and Don Woodworth filled out the top five. The yellow flag flew with one lap remaining as Don Woodworth pulled high in turn number four. Some debris was on the track in turn three and four and this allowed the track safety crew to pick up the debris. Winners Take Checkers at Thunder Alley Speed Park By Megan Rowe - May 7th, 2011 A beautiful night greeted fans at Caprara’s Thunder Alley Speed Park on Saturday, May 7th with a packed racing program that included the Limited Supers highlighting the nights show. Joining them were the men’s truck, women’s truck, thunder cars, thunder stocks, super stocks, open wheels, and junior thunder cars/stocks. The Super Stocks kicked off the night’s feature action with their 15 lap feature event as Ray Bancroft and Keith Doxater led the field to green. Ray Bancroft took over the early lead with Ike Stone and Keith Doxtater rounding out the top three. Ike Stone pulled to the outside of Ray Bancroft as the pair went into turn three in an attempt to take the lead. The duo would race side by side until Stone pulled into the front of the field. Ike Stone went on to collect the win over Ray Bancroft and Keith Doxtater. Verne LaFave and Dustin Van Tassel led the Legends to green with Dustin Van Tassel taking the early lead. Taylor Doxtater slipped around Verne LaFave to take over second with LaFave sitting in third. A late race tire rub sent Taylor Doxtater pitside, allowing Verne LaFave to take over the second position. As the checkered flag dropped, Dustin Van Tassel collected the win over Verne LaFave and Gordon Hall. Luke Roes and Jeremy Scott led the Men’s Truck division to the green in their 15 lap feature event. John Sullivan quickly pulled to the outside as the front three moved into turn one and two with Sullivan taking over the lead of the field. Randy Mooney quickly moved under Luke Roes to take over the second position and began his assault on John Sullivan for the lead. Greg Roes pulled to the high side of Matt Larrivee to take over the fifth position. Greg Roes used the same high groove to pull to the outside of Bob Schroy and Gary Wendell to enter the top three. Randy Mooney pulled high around John Sullivan to take the lead while Bob Schroy plotted his next move in the third position. The field then entered lap traffic as the laps began to wind down. Randy Mooney collected the win over Bob Schroy who made a last lap pass for second and John Sullivan. Steve Abt and Verne LaFave led the open wheel division to green with Abt taking the lead. Jeff Rowe quickly settled into second while he was getting pressure from fourth position of Bob Pullen. Bob Pullen slipped under Jeff Rowe to take the third position as Zach Aubertine entered the top five. Zach Aubertine slipped to the inside of JJ Andrews coming out of turn number to take the fourth position as Steve Abt continued to lead the way. Aubertine then used a lap 13 restart to slip under Bob Pullen and Verne LaFave and enter the second position. Aubertine used the same move to get under Steve Abt and take the command of the field. Zach Aubertine collected the open wheel win over Verne LaFave and Steve Abt. Tom Hunter and Dan Way led the thunder cars to green with Jeff Trapp taking the lead on the field from his third starting position Billy Mattison and Joel Hall battled side by side for the second position with Mattison’s high groove giving him the advantage. Mattison would continue using that high groove and move into the lead as Dan Way battled with Joel Hall for the third position. Pat Brown and Kelly Swem led the Thunder Stock division to green with Brown taking the early lead. Justin Pope wasted no time as he moved through the pack quickly and took over the command of the field. Pope would outstretch his lead on the field leaving Dustin Rogers and Ricky Swem impatiently sitting in positions two and three. As the checkered dropped, Justin Pope collected the win over Dustin Rogers and Ricky Swem. Thunder Alley Speed Park will host their first Enduro on May 14th. Alley Speed Park kicked off the 2011 season on Saturday, April 30, 2011.
In racing action were the Super Stocks, Thunder Cars, Men’s Trucks,
Open Wheels, Sport Compacts, Thunder Stocks, Women’s Trucks, Jr.
Thunder Cars/Stocks, and Legends. There was also a special appearance by
the Limited Super division. The
Super Stocks kicked off the racing action with their 15 lap feature
event. Ray Bancroft and Keith Doxtater led the front row to the green
flag with Keith Doxtater jumping out to the early lead. Ray Bancroft
fell into the second position while Ike Stone and John Van Tassel
rounded out the field. Ike Stone pulled to the outside of Ray Bancroft
coming out of turn number two to take the second position away and then
challenged Keith Doxtater for the lead. As the duo was coming out of
turn number four, Ike Stone took over the control of the field. As the
checkered flag waived, Ike Stone collected the win over Keith Doxtater
and Ray Bancroft. Billy
Mattison and Joel Hall led the thunder car division to the green flag
for their 15 lap feature event. Billy Mattison jumped out to the lead
with Jeff Trapp filling out second and Dan Way in third. Joel Hall
pulled to the outside of Nicholas Trapp with hopes to take away the
fourth position but Trapp forged ahead and maintained the position. On
lap 8, Joel Hall spun out in turn three to bring out the yellow which
gave Nicholas Trapp and Matt Brown the fourth and fifth position. Joel
Hall wasted little time moving through the pack and quickly moved around
Dan Way for the third position as Billy Mattison and Jeff Trapp
continued to lead the way. As the checkered flag waved, Billy Mattison
collected the win over Jeff Trapp and Joel Hall. Randy
Mooney and Greg Roes led the Men’s truck division to the green flag
with Greg Roes taking command of the field. Randy Mooney quickly moved
into the second position while Matt Larribee, John Sullivan, and Bob
Schroy rounded out the top five. Bob Schroy moved into the third
position while Matt Larribee moved into second as the field looked to
track down leader Greg Roes. As the checkered flag waved, Greg Roes
collected the win over Matt Larribee and Bob Schroy. In
the open wheel division Steve Abt and Bob Pullen led the field to the
green flag with Bob Pullen taking the lead on the field with Guard
Nearbin and Steve Abt rounding out the top three. Jeff Rowe pulled to
the outside of Mike Bruce and took over the second position while Guard
Nearbin took the lead. AJ Bernys took over the third position when Jeff
Rowe suffered a flat tire. Mike Bruce slipped under Bob Pullen coming
out of turn number four to take the lead on the field while AJ Bernys
slipped into the second position. Mike Bruce collected the win over AJ
Bernys and Bob Pullen. Scott
Schafer and Rudy Widrick led the Sports Compacts to the green with Scott
Schafer leading the way. Rudy Widrick pulled into the second position
and Patrick McGhee was third. While the field worked hard to catch Scott
Schafer, he would be dominate on opening night of racing action and
would take the win over Rudy Widrick. Justin
Pope and Ricky Swem led the Thunder Stocks to green in their 15 lap
feature. Justin Pope took the early lead while Ricky Swem and Brock
Stevens battled him for the lead. Ricky Swem moved under Pope to take
the lead while Brock Stevens and Dan Swem filled out the top three.
Ricky Swem would take the checkered flag over Brock Stevens and Dustin
Rogers. Tony
Hanbury and Vern LaFave led the Legends to the green flag with Nate
Plantz taking the early lead on the field as Taylor Doxtater and Tony
Hanbury rounding out the top three. Tony Hanbury moved high around
Dustin Van Tassel to take over the fourth position. Tony Hanbury moved
high around Taylor Doxtater and Nate Plantz for the lead on the field.
Tony Hanbury would collect the win over Nate Plantz and Taylor Doxtater.
