ADDERLEY SCORES DOMINATING THUNDER ALLEY WIN
EVANS MILLS, NY.....Mike Adderley mentioned in his victory lane
interview at Caprara's Thunder Alley Speedpark that his DIRT Modified
had been running strong in heat races but he and his team hadn't been
able to put together a good run in a feature.
He said this with a smile after a dominating performance scored him
the victory in Friday night's 30-lap DIRT Modified feature at the
Evans Mills, NY facility. Adderley took the lead on a lap 2
restart and stretched out a comfortable margin in the middle stages of
the race. His only serious challenge came from opening
night feature winner Ryan Bartlett, who closed in on Adderley in the
final circuts as the leaders weaved their way through lapped traffic.
Bartlett had to settle for second, with Tim O'Brien, the early race
leader, posting his best Thunder Alley finish of the season with a
third. Despite losing a portion of his bodywork in a lap 2
tangle, Frankie Caprara took the fourth spot, while Billy Dunn, who
wound up having Caprara's bodywork wedged in the back end of his car
after the same crash, came from the back of the field to claim the
fifth spot.
The 20-lap Sportsman feature event began with Ray Bresnehan holding
the lead, but Matt Butler slipped under him in turn two on lap 5 and
built up a big lead. Jack Meeks and Lance Willix slipped
past as well, but needed a caution to catch the speedy Butler machine. They
got their wish when the yellow flag flew on lap 18 to set up a two lap
shootout. Butler was up to the challenge, holding off the
duo for his first Thunder Alley win of the season. "I
just wanted to make sure I didn't make any mistakes on the last
restart," Butler said after the event. Meeks and Wilix
were trailed by Jim Kite and Jason Potter at the finish.
The 15-lap IMCA Modified main event was a wire to wire win for Rob
Keller, but he had to hold off a solid challenge from Mark Webb in the
final three laps to grab the win with his DirtWorks chassis machine. "We're
doing some R & D for DirtWorks with the suspension on this
car," Keller said, "And it got a little loose there at the
end, but we held on." Jon Dumas, Tom Conklin, and Dean
Mitchell filled out the top five at the end of the feature.
The 15-lap Pure Stock feature was another great race, with Dana Aikens
holding the lead until a lap 3 mishap knocked him out of the top spot. That
gave Dave Pope the lead, and he spent the rest of the race battling
hard to hold off Russ Marsden and Randy Bowman to claim his second
straight win. "I hope the rest of the year goes as
well as the start has," Pope stated. Bowman and
Marsden traded second and third a few times in the second half of the
feature, with Bowman finally claiming the runnerup spot, followed by
Marsden, Dave Mannise, and Keith Doxtater.
Thundercar feature winners included Josh Verne (4 Cyl. Domestic),
Jiggs Jones (4 Cyl. Foreign), Rush Walts (6 Cyl.), Brian Hardy (8 Cyl.)
and Mike Durham (Trucks). Christine Martin was victorious
in the Junior Modified Lite division feature.
Racing action continues at Thunder Alley Friday, May 27th with the

and Trucks. Gates will open at 5 p.m. with heat races
starting at 7:30 p.m. Caprara's Thunder Alley Speedpark is
