WILSON JETS TO PATRIOT SPRINT CAR WIN AT THUNDER ALLEY

EVANS MILLS, NY.....Rick Wilson has made a habit of visiting Victory Lane at Caprara's Thunder Alley Speedpark whenever the Sprint cars make an appearance. He paid another visit to that hallowed ground in Friday night's 20-lap Patriot Sprint Car Group 'A' Main at the 1/3 mile oval.

Wilson came through the field to the second spot behind early leader Jared Zimbardi and made a skillful move under Zimbardi in heavy traffic with four laps to go to collect the win. "The car stunk during the Dash," said Wilson, "So I came in and told the crew to change a bunch of stuff, and we got 'er right."

Zimbardi held on to second spot at the finish, with Chris Shuttlesworth claiming the third spot.

The 20-lap Sportsman feature event was a wire to wire victory for Lance Willix, but he had his hands full on several occasions during the feature. Jim Kite came into second and was literally knocking at Willix's back door, but Willix held his line on the bottom until Kite clipped an infield tire and spun on lap 16. That placed Jessica Zemken and Jack Meeks behind Willix, who wound up battling each other for the runnerup spot, allowing Willix to build up a cushion. "I felt a couple of taps behind me," said Willix, "And that let me know that somebody had caught up and that I had to protect the bottom line."

Meeks passed Zemken in the final lap to claim second, with Jason Potter nipping Kite at the line for fourth.

The 15-lap Pure Stock feature was a race long four car battle between Dana Aikens, Dave Mannise, Dave Pope, and Keith Doxtater. Both Aikens and Mannise took their turns at the point, but Pope had moved into second on lap 6 and a few laps later made a move on the outside line to take the lead and record another feature win. Aikens and Mannise followed Pope to the line, followed by Doxtater and Brandon Warner.

Thundercar feature wins were claimed by Josh Verne (4 Cyl. Domestic), Jack Jones (4 Cyl. Foreign), Rush Walts (6 Cyl.), Brian Palmer (8 Cyl.), and Kevin Bice (Truck).

Racing action continues at Thunder Alley on June 17th with the DIRT Modifieds, Sportsman, IMCA Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Thundercars, and Trucks. Action will get underway at 7:30 p.m.
