Adderly, Herrington, & Pope Take Thunder
Alley Checkers
Evans Mills NY… After a washout last Friday evening due to torrential
downpours, Thunder Alley Speed Park was back in action with a regular
show for all divisions. In the 20 lap Sportsman Feature Jordan Bennett
and Rick McCready led the field to green with Bennett taking the early
command on the field. Rick McCready moved into second while Jack Meeks
and Chris Higgins filled out the top four. Higgins moved under Meeks
to take over the third position and then swung high around McCready to
take over the second position. Meeks moved around McCready to take
third while Chris Raabe and Brandon Sweet looked to enter the top
five. Meeks looked high around Higgins to take over the second
position and succeeded as he set his sights on the leader of Bennett.
Higgins moved back under Meeks to take away second as the staged a
heated battle while both looking at the leaders. When the checkered
flag flew, Bennett would pick up his first career Sportsman Feature.
In the 30 lap Modified
Feature Jason Potter and Ryan Bartlett with Potter taking the early
lead on the field. Tim Sears moved high around Bartlett to take over
the second position while Paul Kinney and Tim O’Brien filled out the
top five. Tim O’Brien moved high around Sears and Kinney to take over
the third position while Paul Kinney and Tim Sears moved back to
fourth and fifth. On a restart O’Brien moved around Bartlett to take
over second while Tim Sears looked to take third away as well. Tim
O’Brien moved high around Jason Potter to take over the lead while Pat
O’Brien looked to enter the top five. Pat O’Brien moved under Tim
Sears to take over the fifth position while Frankie Caprara followed
O’Brien and took over sixth. Pat O’Brien moved high around Ryan
Bartlett to take over the fourth position while Frankie Caprara put
his nose under the Bartlett machine. Paul Kinney moved high around
Potter to take over second while Mike Adderly moved around Caprara and
Bartlett to take over the fourth position. Paul Kinney looked under
Tim O’Brien to take the lead but was unable to succeed as Pat O’Brien
knocked on Kinney’s back bumper. Paul Kinney moved under O’Brien with
two laps to go as he took over the lead, when the checker flew Paul
Kinney picked up his first win in 2006 at Thunder Alley.
In the purestock feature,
Dana Aikens and Josh Verne led the field to green with Verne taking
the early lead on the field. By lap three, Dave Mannise had moved from
his third place starting position into the early lead while Dave Pope
fought with Josh Verne to take over second. By lap 9, Pope had taken
over the second position from Verne and had set his sights on Mannise.
It wasn’t enough as Mannise picked up the win.
In the four cylinder
domestic feature, Mike Trapp picked up another win, dominating the
class in 2006. In the 4 cylinder foreign feature, JR Durham picked up
the win while Bill Youngs and Jiggs Jones picked up the 6/8 Cylinder
Feature and Mike Durham took home the truck win.
Next week at Thunder
Alley, all regular divisions will be back in actions. The speedway
will also host a one on one spectator event. Those looking to
participate must have a registered and insured vehicle, hold a current
