Caprara Takes Home the Win and Track Championship at Thunder Alley

Evans Mills…. After bad luck last week Frankie Caprara was able to rebound and take home the win in the Modified Division as well as the 2005 Thunder Alley Modified Championship. Jason Potter took the early lead on the field while Justin Mason worked from his fifth place starting to take the lead on the field. Mason was able to pull out in front of the field while Caprara quietly worked his way from the middle of the field to pull out into the lead. Caprara pulled awhile while Tim Sears and Billy Dunn raged a battle for the second and third position trying to shorten the distance between themselves and the leader. Lap traffic came into play around lap 20 of the 30 lap feature event. Caprara worked his way through the field while Sears, Dunn, Karl Comfort and Justin Mason tried to track him down. In the end Caprara was able to take home the checked flag while also capturing the Modified Track Championship with John Ramsey and Mike Prentice rounding out the top three in points.

In the purestock feature early points leader Dave Mannise exited the race early in the event, which caused the points championship to be on the line with the racing even more heated then usual. Dave Pope was able to move ahead of John Eiss and Mike Cousins, bringing Ron Hawker with him. Eiss, Cousins, and Keith Doxtater tried to inch their way closer to the lead but were unable to do so. Pope finished first when the checkered flag waved with Hawker, Eiss, Cousins and Doxtater rounding out the top five. Pope and Hawker failed post race inspection which gave the win to John Eiss with Mike Cousins, Keith Doxtater, Dave Fetterly, and Clint Middlemiss rounding out the top five. Even with his bad luck on the night Dave Mannise picked up the track championship with Keith Doxtater and Clint Middlemiss finishing second and third in points.

In the Thundercar Foreign Feature, Mike Stewart and Mike Parker battled heavily on the races closing laps to finish first and second holding off Joel Hall and OJ White for the top two positions under numerous late cautions. The fifth place finisher of Jack Jones picked up the championship. In the Thundercar Domestic Feature, Josh Verne was able to make the late race charge and challenge Mike Trapp and Jock Symonds for the lead on the races final three laps to pick up another win in 2005 along with the track championship. In the 6 cylinder feature James Hall beat out Rush Walts and Dale Snyder for another win while Walts grabbed the Championship. In the 8 Cylinder Feature Kevin Smith crossed the line ahead of Brian Palmer to grab the win along with the Track Championship. In the Thunder Truck Division, Rush Walts picked up the win in the rained out feature from August 19th while Kris Bice II and David Blair rounded out the top three. In the second feature Mike Durham, Nelson Bice II and Leland Whitton cross the line first while Durham was able to close out the season winning the truck Championship.
Next week at Thunder Alley all classes will host a “Run What You Brung” Event in the final race night in 2005. Gates open at 5 with racing beginning promptly at 7:30.
